MOCA #6

The piece I selected this week is called "Mandala a123" by Christopher John Hobby. This artwork stood out to me for many aspects. Ultimately it is the shapes and its colors that compose the image that captivates me. The center of the image is an eye, which is surrounded by shapes that look like stars. These shapes also consist of other designs within them. These shapes are surrounded by a mystifying circle. Overall, the image gives a mystifying feeling.
Christopher John Hobby does sculptural, mosaic, textile, and stained glass art. More specifically, his art involving Mandalas comes from a spiritual interest. Hobby considers himself a "practicing artist" and his work has been widely shown and collected. It is not clearly stated, but his work seems to be made using Photoshop.
